One of the elements of my stroke recovery has been watching my diet.
Every time I see a doctor I hear the same mantra, “lose weight and this diabetes will go away.”
Well, as most people know all too well, that’s a whole lot easier than it seems. First of all diabetes holds a unique gift; it does everything it can to keep you from losing weight.
It messes with your metabolism. So the more you try to lose the more your body resists.
I did lose about 27 pounds last year. I strutted around to see all my docs just so they could congratulate me.
But truth be told it was not due to my restricted diet or my will power. It was due primarily to my diabetic medicine, Januvia.
I didn’t notice it till a few days ago, but that powerful new pharmaceutical gives upper repertory infection a helping hand. They hide this information in a jumble of obfuscation.
Now, I know why I spent October through late Spring fighting a deep seated upper respiratory infection. There were days I felt I may never see another summer.
I tried every vitamin I could find, dozens of virus patches and bacteria patches, special brewed teas, a bevy of antibiotics and even a healthy dose of 16 year-old Irish cough medicine. So much for a miracle healing.
But nothing worked until the swallows along with warm weather and southern breezes returned to Southern California.
Well, as I was damning Januvia to my stroke doctor because of the evil effect of the drug (he prefers the less honest side-effect). I added in passing, “there isn’t any other ‘side-effect’ I should know about?”
He said, “If you really want to get depressed we could talk about the liver damage.”
What the *%#! is wrong with the medical community? I’ve been on that stuff since 2005. I’ve already had 7 strokes. And one of them just now mentioned this liver thing!!!
They never want to hear about my success with Pro Argi9 Plus. Which I feel is primarily responsible for lowering my blood sugar to an all time low. Giving me a lower A1C than most humans. And allowing me to eat an occasional piece of pecan pie.
No. I mention it and they all go deaf. One even said, ” The trouble I have with those health food things is you’ll have to keep taking them for life.”
I guess that’s opposed to Pharmaceuticals that simply kill you because of an undisclosed “side-effect”.
Now, that I’ve had this rant about the MD-Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex, let me get to the real reason for this post.
Forget your diet this Thanksgiving. Eat, drink and be merry. And think about football…or kite flying… or anything, but your health.
Thanksgiving is our country’s unique celebration of Gluttony and I for one am not about to miss it. Certainly not the pecan pie.
Relax and give thanks; you’re alive my friend. And take it from one who knows…that’s reason enough for celebration.

O! In the spirit of total disclosure I did manage to put much of that weight I lost back on. I guess that kills any hope of a diet book, “How I Lost 27 Pounds Without Even Trying.”

Oh, I no longer eat ice cream with that Pecan Pie. I stick to whipped cream. I figure the stuffing and mashed potatoes make up for it.
OK, in an effort to keep Dr. Oz off my back, I must admit I’m eating a lot more veggies these days. It’s better for me I know, but just not on Thanksgiving.
Hi Tom,
You might want to consider a nutritionist, I haven’t been able to lose weight for over 30 years while trying everything I knew to do. After connecting with my nutritionist I have lost 26 pounds in about 4 months. I fully belive that it’s the nutrients she has me on, plus what she has me eating everyday as well. The easiest weight I have ever lost, and I’m never hungry. If your not good with giving up junk food or sweets then it’s probably not for you. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Blessings,
Sue
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Tom! And by all means eat some goodies! We’ll be thinking of you. We love you guys.

This is a local Persian saying;
” I hope all you eat go where there are no sorrows or worries”
Enjoy Eating Dear Pauleys
That Persian saying is just great! Also according to Abraham, enjoy what you eat. So enjoy your lovely Thanksgiving food, Tom. You make us all feel very thankful that we have you and your family in our lives.
Tom,
Blessings to you and Diane and all the Pauleys. I am grateful for you and all you continue to teach me. I love Thanksgiving, the day and the practice. Thank you.
Peace be with you, and all of creation.
Chris
Hi Tom,
just wanted to drop a line thanking for doing such a wonderful work spreading your powerful knowledge and insights!
Having been a diabetic for 37 years now myself, I also wanted to share my secret of staying healthy and feeling great. It’s not about loosing weight. Stop trying to do that immediately. Instead it’s about regaining that wonderful feeling of a healthy body. All else (even weight loss) will fall in place. Just take time every day to watch different sports on TV and start feeling how these athletes must feel. Find the time to start moving more outside (walks etc.).
There’s one more important thing to watch: Watch the acidity (pH) of your body! Most people are too acid and diabetics even more so! This makes you feel less energized and is easily corrected!
I could go on here with supplements I order from the US being Swiss but I don’t want to go on for too long.
Take care and enjoy fully.
Brigitte
Hi Tom,
I readily understand why you feel the way you do about the pharmacutical industry. And failuer to make sure consumers understand the risks…all of them. Not to mention drug interactions. Well…youv’e been watching Dr. Oz, so you know what I mean.
In my work I interact with folks who are older and commonly take 7-12 meds every day! Some meds are the ones you see on the TV commercial today about how they have been implicated in many deaths. And naturally they are sicker and don’t have a clue why. Heck they get meds to treat the meds.
I guess it’s this way; can you imagine your doctor standing in front of you , or the pharamcist, explaining about the deaths, cancers, blindess, depression, etc that the med he/she is prescribing is known to cause? OK, were going to fix you up with that respiratory infection , but the fix may cause us to have to find you a new kindey, or create a new diease… but you wont caugh anymore.
My husband was suffering from HBP & HCh. The doc didn’t want to put him right on meds due to his very young age of 41 when they found it. BTW- he ended going to the doc due to landing in the hosptiol for kindey stones…due to all that soda pop he
*used *to drink every day….
We diligently removed sugar ( harder than you may think when you begin to read lablels ) Stevia, and honey instead.
and removed all processed foods. Isn’t it amazing how we, as people, believe if it’s on the grocery store shelf, it’s actuacly ok to eat, even safe?
Anyway, no more HBP or Hch! Some days it’s (BP) lower than mine, which is very good.
Not to mention he has considerable more energy, as a side affect of dumping all that sugar and processed foods from his diet.
No , It wasn’t easy, but way worth it all.
Generally, we follow the New Atkins Diet, I got the book at the local one stop grocery.
Yes, we do fall off the wagon on occasion , like special days. But we climb back on right away, and don’t beat ourselves up, ever.
Afterall , look what we are bombarded with day in and day out.
Good luck Tom, your writings changed my life, and I sincerely hope you find the path best for you, and live a long healthy life.
God Bless you, friend…I guess the biggest problem I have with Big Drug companies is there direction. From researchers I understand that Drug mfg concentrate on products to teat the symptom but not the cause. Treat the cause and the patient is healed and no longer needs medication. Treat the cause and you hit the jackpot. You have a paying customer until he dies.
Part of the problem with Doctors is our fault. We need to question what they suggest. How else can we make an informed decision. It is after all our bodies and our lives.
Great Comment! Thanks
Bridgitte,
These are great comments. I use a Kangen water machine to create 9.5 ph water. It has helped tremendously. And you wouldn’t believe the vitamins i take.
Still, the pro Argi Plus is the best supplement i take. Developed by a Diabetes MD in the Bay Area near San Francisco. In 14 years treating over 8,000 high risk patients he’s had ZERO HOSPITALIZATIONS. Discovered by a man who eventually won a Nobel Prize for it in chemistry. Or Pulitzer I can’t keep them straight. My point is why aren’t all MDs tell diabetics about this?
Thanks for your support.
Hi Tom
I know it is difficult changing but have you researched raw food eating. I found it reversed diabeties 2 and gave me back my life. oh ps, I am not 100% raw 100% of the time but I know when I need it. Somebody suggested to me to try it for 30 days, glad I did.
I read your story many years ago and just tonight, I had a hawk circle above me so close and stare directly at me…just happens I am into some change with EFT right now.
Blessings to you and your family
Hi Tom,
This method is excellent http://www.thegabrielmethod.com/ by Jon Gabriel. I read his book and downloaded the meditation and within days weight was vanishing. I listened to the meditation morning and evening…. Very powerful. It helps to improve all areas of your life.
